Tue
Ed Rowan, author of Mothers of Scouting: Baden-Powell and the Women Who Influenced Him
Start: 7:00 pm
End: 8:30 pm
Mothers of Scouting tells the story of Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting Movement, and the women who made him the man he was. Baden-Powell relied heavily on his mother when making major decisions, and later, his secretary and wife were strong influences on his life. Though he perhaps would not have admitted it, these women played huge roles in his life and legacy. Rowan has been affiliated with the Boy Scouts for over fifty years. He has also written a biography of James E. West, the founder of the Boy Scouts of America, and a history of the town of Exeter.

Why Shop Indie?

For every $100 you spend at a local indie business, $68 will stay in the community. When you spend that same $100 at a national chain, only $43 stays in your community.

Local businesses carry a wider array of unique products because they buy for their own market: the people in their community. They know you and know what you like and want.

You wouldn’t want your house to look like everyone else’s in the U.S. Why would you want your community to look that way? More diversity in your community enhances its appeal.

Even more reasons to shop indie...
