We the People Film Fest presents a free showing of Food, Inc.
Start: 7:00 pm
End: 9:00 pm
Filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on America's food industry. Our nation's food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. We have bigger-breasted chickens, the perfect pork chop, herbicide resistant soybean seeds, even tomatoes that won't go bad, but we also have new strains of E. coli-- the harmful bacteria that causes illnesses for an estimated 73,000 Americans annually. We are riddled with widespread obesity, particularly among children, and an epidemic level of diabetes among adults.   We the People is a free lecture series sponsored by the Congregational, Episcopal, and Unitarian churches in Exeter, in cooperation with Phillips Exeter Academy. This showing is free and open to the public and takes place at Christ Church. Water Street Bookstore will be providing copies of the book Food, Inc. for anyone interested in purchasing.

Why Shop Indie?

For every $100 you spend at a local indie business, $68 will stay in the community. When you spend that same $100 at a national chain, only $43 stays in your community.

Local businesses carry a wider array of unique products because they buy for their own market: the people in their community. They know you and know what you like and want.

You wouldn’t want your house to look like everyone else’s in the U.S. Why would you want your community to look that way? More diversity in your community enhances its appeal.

Even more reasons to shop indie...
