Open Mic Poetry featuring Susan Chandel
Start: Sep 8 2010 6:30 pm
End: Sep 8 2010 8:00 pm

Featured poets are back after a summer of open mic only events. Susan Chandel is our featured poet for September.

Susan Chandel was first published in Seventeen Magazine in July
1974. Writing and drawing have been her passions since she was a young
child growing up on Cape Cod. Her work has also appeared in The Café
Review and the online collection iPeace:15,000 stories. Susan received
a B.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts. After traveling the world, she returned to New England where she raised three children and has worked as an
advocate in mental health, rape crisis and domestic violence for over
20 years.

Following her reading, we'll open the mic for everyone to read. Please bring one or two poems. Come early to sign up. See you here!

Publishing Rep Night: Great Book Group Books
Start: Sep 22 2010 7:00 pm

Join us for another Publishing Rep Night! We'll have three publishing reps here to tell us about their favorite books for book groups.

Lesley Vasilio from Random House, Ellen Pyle from Macmillan, and John Muse from Simon & Schuster will be sharing paperback, hardcover, fiction and non-fiction titles. They'll showcase new and old titles as well, focusing on books that are great book group picks.

Come alone or bring your whole book group and enjoy wine and light refreshments at the bookstore.

RSVP to waterstreet.books@myfairpoint.net to let us know you're coming. Thanks!

Why Shop Indie?

For every $100 you spend at a local indie business, $68 will stay in the community. When you spend that same $100 at a national chain, only $43 stays in your community.

Local businesses carry a wider array of unique products because they buy for their own market: the people in their community. They know you and know what you like and want.

You wouldn’t want your house to look like everyone else’s in the U.S. Why would you want your community to look that way? More diversity in your community enhances its appeal.

Even more reasons to shop indie...
