For All Whom God Has Joined: Resources for Clergy and Same-Gender Loving Couples

Jun 21 2010 7:00 pm
Jun 21 2010 8:30 pm

All Whom God Has Joined provides one-of-a-kind, yet practical liturgical and ceremonial resources for same-sex covenanting ceremonies as well as pastoral care tools and insights for clergy and couples addressing these issues.

Clergy and Justices of the Peace in states that recognize these rights will benefit from this extremely timely, useful book, as will the couples to whom they minister. But couples, and their family and friends —no matter where they reside—will be enlightened by this vital resource as they shape new commitments. Twenty-five writers have contributed full ceremonies, vows and poems, including former Poet Laureate of New Hampshire Marie Harris.

The Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson, Ninth Episcopal Bishop of the Diocese of New Hampshire—and the book’s foreword writer—says: “Anyone looking to construct a ceremony of union that will express her or his deep commitment to another will find this book comforting and supportive, as well as practical and helpful. I’m delighted to commend it to those considering such a ceremony and to those who counsel them.”

Maren travels throughout the country facilitating workshops on creative worship, youth ministry, elder care, and liturgical writing, and she teaches memoir, poetry and even “Faith and Fantastic Fiction” (a look at science fiction and fantasy genres as they relate to faith concerns) in high schools, libraries, correctional institutions, senior centers through the New Hampshire Humanities Council.

An ordained United Church of Christ pastor, Maren has served seven churches over the last thirty years and she currently is the Pastor of Union Congregational UCC in Madbury and lives in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

She is the author of sixteen books. She has also written Caring for Ourselves while Caring for our Elders and Transgendering Faith, which was nominated for a LAMBDA Award, with Leanne Tigert.

Why Shop Indie?

For every $100 you spend at a local indie business, $68 will stay in the community. When you spend that same $100 at a national chain, only $43 stays in your community.

Local businesses carry a wider array of unique products because they buy for their own market: the people in their community. They know you and know what you like and want.

You wouldn’t want your house to look like everyone else’s in the U.S. Why would you want your community to look that way? More diversity in your community enhances its appeal.

Even more reasons to shop indie...
