Cambodia talk for kids and parents with Christy Machulski

Aug 4 2010 3:00 pm
Aug 4 2010 4:00 pm

We're hosting a discussion about Cambodia, led by Christy Machulski. Christy is a former Newfields educator who now lives with her family in Singapore. She has volunteered with Caring For Cambodia for two years now, and will be talking about the organization and what we can do to help.

Caring For Cambodia is a nonprofit, non-governmental, charitable organization. Our mission is to secure a better, brighter future for the children of Cambodia by providing them with an education

Our approach goes beyond building and maintaining classrooms: Our commitment is completely holistic. We mentor and professionally train teachers. We fund supplies such as books, paper, pencils, and classroom tools. We maintain and upgrade facilities, including bathrooms, classrooms, and playgrounds. And we care for our students by providing each with a nutritious daily meal, a bicycle to use as safe transport,
a uniform, and basic health and hygiene care.

With our help—and yours—these children reach their full potential becoming valuable members of their community and the role models of tomorrow.

This event is for parents and kids of all ages. If you or your kids were inspired by Greg Mortenson and Three Cups of Tea, this is the event for you!

Why Shop Indie?

For every $100 you spend at a local indie business, $68 will stay in the community. When you spend that same $100 at a national chain, only $43 stays in your community.

Local businesses carry a wider array of unique products because they buy for their own market: the people in their community. They know you and know what you like and want.

You wouldn’t want your house to look like everyone else’s in the U.S. Why would you want your community to look that way? More diversity in your community enhances its appeal.

Even more reasons to shop indie...
