Jennifer Allen, author of Bone Knowing, shares her story with us

Apr 24 2010 2:00 pm
Apr 24 2010 3:30 pm

Jennifer Allen has always found venues to express what resonates deeply and has helped others do the same. In her memoir, Bone Knowing, she reveals the bittersweet realities of living and loving while slowly losing her husband to cancer. Bone Knowing is about choosing love despite ever-slimming odds --because know of us really know when our time is up.

Jennifer Allen works in private practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Board Certified Art Therapist. She also provides training for hospice volunteers in the use of art with bereaved children, facilitates children’s grief groups and writes on the subject of art therapy, anticipatory grief and bereavement. Originally from Maine, Jennifer moved to California where she graduated with a Master's degree from California State University at Sacramento and began work as director of a Healing Arts program, providing pediatric and oncology patients with bedside art therapy services.

Why Shop Indie?

For every $100 you spend at a local indie business, $68 will stay in the community. When you spend that same $100 at a national chain, only $43 stays in your community.

Local businesses carry a wider array of unique products because they buy for their own market: the people in their community. They know you and know what you like and want.

You wouldn’t want your house to look like everyone else’s in the U.S. Why would you want your community to look that way? More diversity in your community enhances its appeal.

Even more reasons to shop indie...
