John Walters, author of Roads Less Traveled
Roads Less Traveled
tells the life stories of some truly remarkable people -- people whose
lives are full of passion and purpose. They have devoted themselves to
a career, an art form, an idea, or a cause.
They
have literally taken their own "road less traveled." Their stories
testify to the breadth of human creativity, and the strength of the
human spirit.
I
met these people through my work as a radio host and magazine writer.
This book allows me to tell their stories in full, without the
limitations of airtime or word counts.
Profile subjects include:
Mighty
Sam McClain of Newmarket, a soul singer who battled through decades of
poverty and substance abuse, and continues to pursue his craft.
Bob McQuillen, a composer and performer of New England contra dance music, a fixture in the field for over 60 years.
Beatrice
Trum Hunter, a pioneering writer on nutrition and health who advocated
for natural foods long before they hit the mainstream.
David
Krempels, survivor of a traumatic brain injury who created a foundation
to help others with TBIs, and opened an activity center for TBI
survivors in Portsmouth.
Courtney Haase, a former Catholic nun who left the convent and became a goat farmer and maker of artisan cheese.
Jane
Bernhardt of Exeter. An actor, writer, and artist who has explored some
of the most profound human experiences through her multi-media work.
John Walters
