This novel is written in poems that are thoughtful, carefully constructed, and full of specific detail and pulsing emotion.
Anke is in 9th grade. She makes the volleyball team and begins to gain some confidence. No matter how hard she hits the ball though, she can't seem to say anything against her father--a man who verbally, physically, and sexually abuses her siblings, but not her.
Real characters, a heartbreaking story, with a truly strong and redemptive ending. Some tough content, but okay for mature readers. Great for teens, parents, teachers, counselors. Perfect for readers and non-readers alike.
